Abbreviations for navigation

Each article about one of the Mahatma Letters has a proper title such as Mahatma Letter No. 35, using the chronological numbering system. However, the same article can be located quickly by searching for ML35 or ml35. To locate an article using the Barker numbering, just add the letter "B" to the search. MLB41 or mlb41 will also reach Mahatma Letter No. 35.

Common nicknames and variant names are also redirected to facilitate searching, so that hpb will redirect to the article for Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, and Babajee will take the reader to Babaji. Similarly, names and terms with diacritical marks are redirected from simple English spellings, as Jinarajadasa will lead to Curuppumullage Jinarājadāsa.

Cross-references

If you need to know the Barker number for a letter, and know the chronological number, simply use the Barker to Chronological Cross-reference, or enter b2c in the Search box.

Conversely, if you need to know the chronological number for a letter, and know the Barker number, simply use the Chronological to Barker Cross-reference, or enter c2b in the Search box.

Linked phrases

In the transcription of a letter, the reader may encounter a word or phrase in blue. That is a link to another page within the TS Wiki. Positioning the mouse over the blue words will show the name of the linked page. Examples:

  • The phrase "Old Lady" in blue links to the article Helena Petrovna Blavatsky.
  • When Koot Hoomi refers to the "August number" the linked page will be The Theosophist (periodical), since "August number" refers to an issue of that periodical.

Categories

An extensive system of categories is in place to tie together topics or people with similar characteristics. It provides a convenient way to locate related information. See Category:TSWiki categories for a complete list, or the "Categories in the TS Wiki" on the Main Page.
