In October 1880, during Olcott and Mme. Blavatsky stay with the Sinnetts and Humes, there were a series of occult phenomena producedin front of a number of witnesses. They were:
- Cup and Saucer (phenomenon), morning of October 3, 1880: In a picnic-breakfast organized by the Sinnetts a cup and saucer were precipitated buried under a tree.
- Major Henderson's Diploma: After the cup and saucer phenomenon, the Major's membership certificate was produced phenomenally on the spot.
- Brooch No. 1, evening of October 3, 1880: Mr. and Mrs. Hume organized a dinner party at their home where a brooch that Mrs. Hume had given away some time ago was precipitated in Hume's garden.
- Brooch No. 2, on October 20, 1880: A brooch belonging to Patience Sinnett was materialized inside her pillow.
