John Osborne Varian was an Irish-American poet and a member of the Temple of the People Theosophical community. His sons Russell and Sigurd Varian, became inventors noted for their early work on radar.

Personal life

Theosophical Society involvement

Mr. Varian was admitted to the Theosophical Society in Dublin, Ireland on October 11, 1892, as was his wife Agnes. She resigned on June 28, 1905.[1]
