Revision as of 21:32, 27 December 2015

This is an addition to Community portal Plans and announcements section in more verbose mode not interesting for general public. It's purpose is to collaborate the work of administrators of different languages wikis.

Common templates

It is possible to use templates from other wiki. For example to place table of contents (TOC) to the right side, one can use template {{TOC right}} from English wiki. To do that in English wiki, just add line:

{{TOC right}}

to use this template in other wiki, add line:

{{raw:en:TOC right}}

This include method works for every interwiki link. See interwiki table for the list.

Interwiki

Interwiki table holds links to all recognizable friendly wiki projects. Presence at this table makes possible short links to the pages of other wiki. This is true as for our Theosophy Wiki (which is - as for other languages in it - but a group of wikis), so for other wikis. It is good idea to add to this table all theosophical wikis.

For example if we add URL for Teopedia Library, we can use short link:

[[:teopedia-ru-lib:Блаватская_Е.П._-_Тайная_Доктрина_(публикации) |Secret Doctrine publications in Russian]]

to make the link to the Secret Doctrine publications in Russian page in Teopedia which will not depend on URL. That approach will provide more secure links and will save editor a lot of time if the URL of destination wiki changes (like in case of tswiki.net --> theosophy.wiki)

Edittools

Edittools page holds text which will be placed under edit window.

This is a very useful for editor tool which can be configured for every wiki separately or could be included from other wiki (See Common templates above).

It is configured now for English and Russian wikis.
