Psyche (from the Greek ψυχή, psūchē) meaning "life, spirit, consciousness". In Greek philosophy this term was used in the sense of the soul, the vital breath or animating principle in humans and other animals. In psychology it refers to the totality of the human mind, conscious and unconscious.
