Huston Cummings Smith (May 31, 1919 – December 30, 2016) was an American scholar of comparative religions. His textbook The World's Religions: Our Great Wisdom Traditions sold over three million copies.
Involvement with the Theosophical Society
Dr. Smith lectured at the national headquarters of the Theosophical Society in America and wrote an article for its magazine The Quest. In 2002, he participated in the series of Kern Lectures and Seminars sponsored by The Kern Foundation for the TSA. , On April 18, he spoke on "A Life of Exploring Religious Frontiers" at Bederman Auditorium in Chicago, followed on April 20 by a seminar, "Rediscovering Forgotten Truths."[1]
