A tariqa or tariqah is a school or religious order of Sufism that leads students along a particular spiritual path. In Arabic the term is طريقة, ṭarīqah, pl.ق, ṭuruq; in Persian, طريقت, tariqat; in Turkish, tarikat. The term means "way," "path," or "method." In Sufism one starts with Islamic law, the exoteric or mundane practice of Islam and then is initiated onto the mystical path of a tariqa. Through Spiritual practices and guidance lead the the aspirant seeks ḥaqīqah, ultimate truth.
