Michael C. Betanelly was a Georgian engaged in export-import business. He married Helena Petrovna Blavatsky at the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia, at Chestnut and van Pelt Streets, the Pastor being the Rev. Wm. H. Furness (ace. to Church Records).
