The Institute for Theosophical Publicity was a South African publishing house that was active in Pretoria from 1947 to 1954, when the South African Section of the Theosophical Society moved to Cape Town. The publishing initiative then was renamed as the “Theosophical Society in Southern Africa Information and Publicity Centre.”

Publications included many pamphlets and these books:

  • Theosophy in a Nutshell compiled by Eleanor Stakesby-Lewis. 1948.
  • 50 Years of Theosophy – The Golden Jubilee of the Johannesburg Lodge Compiled by Phyllis Lean. 1949.
  • So Rich a Life by Clara Codd. 1951. This is the autobiography of Clara Codd, a prominent English Theosophist who served as General Secretary of the South African Section during World War II.
  • Poems of Aspiration, Faith, and Love by A. D. McDonald. 1953.
  • Harvest: An Anthology of Lectures Given in South Africa. 1953.

Since 1954, only pamphlets and the Section's members' magazine have been published. In recent years the South African Section changed its practices, now communicating with its members mainly via electronic media. All publication decisions are now vested in the Executive committee of the Theosophical Society in South Africa (EXCO).[1]
