Citta (devanāgarī: चित्त) is a Sanskrit word that means derived from the root cit, "to be conscious". Chitta is frequently regarded as "the mind-stuff" beings the store-house of memory. Since the samskaras or impressions of actions are imbedded there, it is seen as the subconscious mind. It is one of the four parts of antahkarana.
