Aeon, also spelt as eon, is a Latin transliteration from the Greek αἰών (ho aion). It originally means "life" and/or "being", though it is also applied to a finite period of time or "age", and even translated as eternity. In this sense it is similar to the Sanskrit word Kalpa.
