Sarasvati (devanāgarī: सरस्वती Sarasvatī) is the Hindu goddess of knowledge, music, arts, and science. She is the consort of Brahmā, also revered as his Shakti. She is depicted as a beautiful fair Goddess with four arms, wearing a spotless white saree and seated on a white lotus. Her symbolic animal is the peacock, whose crowing calls the pious to their religious duties.
Her image is engraved on the Subba Row Medal awarded by the Theosophical Society based in Adyar, Chennai, India for contributions to Theosophical literature.
