My good friend; tho' Mr. Eglington has promised to return by the end of June he cannot do so — after the danger that has threatened him at Calcutta on the very day of his departure — unless he is thoroughly protected against any such disgraceful recurrence. If Mr. Hume is anxious to have him, let him for want of something better — offer him the place of his private secretary, for a year or so, now that Mr. Davison is away.
