H. A. Fussell
H. Alexander Fussell was a Point Loma Theosophist.
Like several others on the faculty, he was born and educated in England. After leaving the Universty School in his native town, Nottingham, he spent several years in the study of modern languages and literature in France, Germany, and Switzerland. Coming to the United States in 194, he seems to have been guided into theosophy by William Quan Judge at about the same time as was Katherine Tingley. Soon, thereafter, he accepted the position of master of modern languages at the Pomfret School, Connecticut. With the establishment of Point Loma, where his artist father, Joseph Fussell, Sr., and his brother were already living, he made frequent visits there beginning in 1904. After the death of his father in 1912, Katherine Tingley invited him to become professor of modern languages at Point Loma, a position he occupied with distinction for over ten years. Long a contributor in depth to the Loma magazines, he became editor-in-chief of Lucifer in 1930, serving till his death in 1935 at the age of seventy-six."[1]
