Adyar Day, observed on February 17 in the Theosophical Society based in Adyar, Chennai, India, recognizes the significance in Theosophical Society history of the establishment of headquarters by the Founders, H. P. Blavatsky and Col. H. S. Olcott. According to Annie Besant, the suggestion to establish this annual event came from Madame de Manziarly, and the first celebration was on February 17, 1922.[1] Individual members and groups use the date as a reminder to take up a monetary collection for support of the Adyar Headquarters. In 2022, a special centennial program was presented in Adyar, featuring a recording of Fritz Kunz relating his reminiscences about Colonel Olcott and C. W. Leadbeater.
