Leadbeater]] rejoining the [[Theosophical Society (Adyar)]] upon invitation by [[Annie Besant]], "Mary" instigated the London Lodge members to unanimously withdraw from the Theosophical Society, subsequently forming the short-lived [[London Lodge #Eleusinian Society|Eleusinian Society]]. In 1911 Mr. Sinnett felt he should not stay away for the Theosophical Movement he helped to form in the Western world. He discussed the matter with Annie Besant during her visit to London and in the Spring of that year the lodge became again part of the TS, changing its name back to London Lodge. Mr. Sinnett was restored to his original office of vice-President. Maude Louise Boyle-Travers (1859 - August 4, 1929) was a psychic and member of the London Lodge of the Theosophical Society.

Early life

Maude was the daughter of an Irish physician, Robert Boyle Travers of Farsid, County Cork, who was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, England and a Licensed Apothecary in Dublin.[1] He was married first to Mary Anne (née Daly) on October 28, 1852 in Cloyne, Cork, Ireland. Maude was born in 1859 in Aghada County, Ireland.[2] After her mother died, Maude's father married Anna (née Shand) on July 13, 1864 at Saint Marylebone, Westminster, England.[3][4][5][6]

Theosophical Society involvement

Maude became a member of the London Lodge of the Theosophical Society.[7] On October 11, 1893, she married 44-year old William Scott-Elliot, a member of the same lodge, and two years later, on October 9, 1895, they had a son, Walter Travers Scott-Elliot.[8][9]

Known under the pseudonym of "Mary". She became a close friend of A. P. Sinnett, who was convinced that she was in contact with the Masters of Wisdom.
