George S. Arundale

George Sydney Arundale (1878–1945) was an English Theosophist, educator, writer, and editor. He served as the third President of The Theosophical Society based in Adyar, India from 1934 to 1945. He was married to Rukmini Devi Arundale.

Writings

Dr. Arundale was quite a prolific writer and editor.

Dr. Arundale wrote over 2200 articles for Theosophical periodicals, being especially prolific during the years that he served as President and as editor of The Theosophist. The Union Index of Theosophical Periodicals lists articles under George S Arundale, GS Arundale, and GSA.

He wrote an introduction to Yoga in Sound:

This little piece of music was sketched for my personal convenience as a means of helping to bridge the gulf between an inner and an outer Yoga. It is written here for the pianoforte, but I have added a few suggestions in this text for possible orchestration, since the piano is utterly inadequate to give expression to that Real within me, that music of myself, of which the composition is but a feeble reflection.
