White Lotus Day, is a Theosophical celebration held on May 8 to commemorate the death in 1891 of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, co-founder of the Theosophical Society. HPB asked that in memory of her death, friends should gather to read from Edwin Arnold’s Light of Asia and Bhagavad Gita. Theosophists around the world who are celebrating the day often include readings from her book The Voice of the Silence.
