  • 1888 – Beginning of the International Convention at Adyar where it was decided a) to reorganize the Theosophical Society in autonomous National Sections, b) that the President will hold office for a period of seven years, and c) that William Quan Judge be the Vice-President of the Society. The Convention also abolishes entrance fee and annual dues.
  • 1893 – Annie Besant delivers her first International Convention lecture on "The Building of the Cosmos" at the Headquarters of the Theosophical Society, at Adyar.
