- 1879 – A. P. Sinnett, editor of The Pioneer invited H. P. Blavatsky and Col. H. S. Olcott to visit him to become acquainted with them.
- 1877 – Annie Besant established the Freethought Publishing Company with Charles Bradlaugh, which published her pamphlets until Bradlaugh’s death in 1891.
- 1881 – The Founders had a "long and serious discussion" as a result of a visit of the Master H. "to re-construct the T.S. on a different basis, putting the Brotherhood idea forward more prominently, and keeping the occultism more in the background."
