- 1875 – Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, Henry Steel Olcott, William Quan Judge, and others, met to start organizing a Society "for the study and elucidation of Occultism, the Cabbala, etc.". This would eventually result in the founding of the Theosophical Society, officially started on November 17 of that year.
- 1880 – Founders H. P. Blavatsky and H. S. Olcott arrived at Simla to visit A. P. and Patience Sinnett.
